A recent post on FortHoward.Org uncovered Maryland HB538 2024 Housing and Affordabilty Act was amended on February 20th , 2024 by a letter submitted by law firm Veneble LLP on behalf of the current leaseholder/developer of the 94 acre shuttered Fort Howard Hospital, Himmelrich and Associates . The HB538 amendment potentially removes much, if not all, meaningful Baltimore County zoning and development authority from Baltimore County Government in spite of the property downzoning by Baltimore County 7th District Todd Crandell in the 2024 CZMP.
It was also uncovered Democrat Machine Boss Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski in a letter from his office SUPPORTED the Himmelrich Amendement.
Opensecrets reports Democrat Machine Boss Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski, who at the time was running for United States Congress, recieved a combined total of approximatley 30,000 dollars in campaign donations from Top Contributors Fort Howard developer “Himmelrich Associates and Veneble LLP” as reported in the following Opensecrets table .

The community of Fort Howard and the 15,000 residents of the North Point peninsula were not consulted or advise about the Himmelrich Amendment by Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski, in spite of the fact he lives in the North Point peninsula community of Millers Island or by one of his ten full time employed Baltimore County Community Outreach representatives.
*The organizations themselves did not donate, rather the money came from the organizations’ PACs, their individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals’ immediate families.
