As people concerned about the health of the Chesapeake Bay and Baltimore Harbor, it’s our job to ask questions.

When the Chesapeake Bay Foundation realized there weren’t enough answers on the potential effects of offsite contamination (pollutants that have contaminated nearby waterways) from the Sparrows Point site in Dundalk, we commissioned two studies to learn more.

Please join us for a public meeting on Wednesday, December 16, as we share the findings of the two studies designed to better characterize the potential human health and ecological risks of industrial chemicals, heavy metals, and other substances found in water and sediments in Bear Creek, a tidal creek located between the facility and many neighboring communities.

The authors of these studies—Dr. Lance Yonkos of the University of Maryland, College Park, Department of Environmental Science & Technology and Dr. Charlie Menzie of Exponent Engineering and Scientific Consulting—will present their results and respond to questions.

What: Public meeting to share the results of two recent studies on the potential human health and ecological effects of offsite contamination from Sparrows Point

When: Wednesday, December 16; 6:30 – 8:00 pm

Where: Sollers Point Branch Public Library, 323 Sollers Point Rd, Dundalk, MD 21222

We encourage you to RSVP for the meeting here.

Hope to see you on the 16th!
