FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CRANDELL REJECTS PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT AT FORT HOWARD

Towson, MD September 21, 2015 A long awaited Planned Unit Development (PUD) to re-develop the the Fort Howard property has been introduced by the current developer. Councilman Todd Crandell officially rejected the application, which sends the developer back to the drawing board and likely into re-negotiations with the Veterans Administration , the owner of the property

The PUD called for almost three times the housing density the property is zoned for, and I am not wiling to support a proposal the excessive.” said the Councilman. He went on to elaborate ” The community is against this plan because it would fundamentally change the character of the North Point Peninsula, not to mention the infrastructure demands it would place on the system.  I promise to protect the peninsula from over-development, and I am proud to fulfill that promise.”

The councilman also said ” Our veterans deserve better than to have their sacred land swallowed up by development. Any plan that seek my support will have to have a veterans focus as well as be fit for the community.I remain hopeful the property will someday be a gem.”
