September 9, 2019
Mr. Francis Taylor
President, North Point Council
7603 Iroquois Ave
Sparrows Point, Maryland 21219
This Friday September 13, 2019 at 10 am – 11 am at the Jefferson building Room 205, 105 Chesapeake Avenue, Towson Maryland 21204 a Development Plan Hearing-Sparrows Club Estates PUD for the proposed constriction of 66 Single Family Homes, 53 Villas, and 193 Townhomes on a portion if the existing county club property will convene.
I understand you and your North Point Council membership are supporting the above Developer Craftsmen Country Club Estates development.
Please be advised Developer Craftsmen’s Country Club Estates will induce more overcrowding at Sparrow Point Middle and High Schools beyond Maryland State and Baltimore County Public School capacity requirements.
For this reason, Fort Howard Community Association opposes Developer Craftsmen’s Country Cub Estates development.
As your former Vice-President and Pro-Temp President I urge you and your North Point Council membership to reconsider and to join the communities of Lynch Cove, Lodge Forrest, Lodge Farm, Millers Island, Jones Creek, Todd’s Farm, Denton Avenue, Penwood, the Sparrows Point High School Alumni Association, the Business Association, the students, parents, teachers, administrators, the 7th District Civic Council of Baltimore County, the North Point/Sparrows Point Historical Society, Baltimore County Public School Board Members, our Annapolis Delegation, and the Fort Howard Community Association opposing this errant Country Club Estates development until the Sparrows Point Middle and High Schools overcrowding and infrastructure are resolved to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
I and my associates know of no “community benefit,” Developer Craftsmen can offer that will compensate the detrimental effects overcrowding imposes on our Sparrows Point Middle and High School students, their teachers, their administrators, and the taxpayer.
I am aware of and sympathetic to Sparrows Point County Club’s financial dilemma, however, Sparrows Point County Club’s corporate failures and mismanagement cannot and will not be bailed out with a sweetheart deal at the expense of Sparrows Point Middle and High School student’s education.
Again, as your past Vice-President and Pro-Temp President I urge you and your North Point Council membership to loudly voice your opposition to Councilman Mr. Todd Crandell and the Baltimore County Council by email, mail, or telephone in advance of this Friday’s Hearing or better, join me and others at the hearing this Friday, September 13, 2019 at 10 am testifying on behalf of the students, parents, teachers, administrators, and taxpayers of Sparrows Point Middle and High Schools opposing this flawed and inappropriately timed Development.
Please call me if I can be of further assistance to you or your North Point Council membership in this matter.
Most respectfully yours,
